Back in the days, to us desi girls and boys, summer holidays hardly spelled international tours or trips to Disneyland. Vacations were usually synonymous with afortnightor so at Nani’s House that included playing with cousins, trips to the beach and eating loads of Alphonso mangoes(yep ! you guessed it, my Nani lives in Bombay).
Come April and as the temperatures rise, the coolers dusted and thegeyser switched off, I feel that familiar longing for those innocent vacations and of course the Mangoes ( yes the bhukkar I am, how could I forget those😍😍😍) Giving in to this longing, I decide to take a break and travel to my Nani ‘s house thisApril. But unlike old times I ditched the old state carrier for the latest player on the block, Air Vistara.

I was super excited to experience this new airline after having heard a lot of contradictory reviews from friends and family. I decided to travel one way by Economy and the other by Premium Economy just so I could give you guys the ‘andaar ki khabhar’ inthe actualdifference between both the categories of the AIRLINE
I booked my flights directly on Vistara’s website www.airvistara.com, at that time the primarily attraction for me was getting 10% cash back, if you pay via Paytm. But on reaching Delhi Airport I realized another big advantage of this was Complimentary fast-track priority handling at dedicated counters for check-in and boarding. This meant I breezed through check-in and which left more time for me to hog at the airport lounge and even squeeze in bit of window shopping

If you do zero in on Vistara do use these benefits by booking through Vistara Direct saving money, time and lot of unnecessary hassle.
The next hour was spent shopping and gorging at the airport lounge ( check the video above)
Soon after I boarded the aircarft and was shown to my seat. The seat was comfortable with about just enough leg room. I asked for my customary blanket and pillow and settled in. As the aeroplane taxied I half dozed in my seat while waiting forin-flight meal to be served ( yes I am hungry all the time it seems).

My meal soon arrived and consisted of a vegetarian main course lunch that included Khadi Chawal, a Spinach Corn Sabzi,a portion of dessert and aBread Roll. A well balanced nutritious meal followed by tea or coffee. Though the portions size was adequate and the meal filling I was not very impressed by the quality and the taste.

Dessert and Bread Roll
Not that I was expecting a gourmet class meal but I did expect it to pack more flavor. However I must say that the service was excellent with pleasant and attentive Air Hostesses ever ready to serve with a smile
Loads of shopping and extra stash of Mangoes means lots of Luggage
The Air Vistara Premium Economy Experience
After a rather fun filled trip in Mumbai, gorging mangoes, shopping and eating at some of the most beautiful Restaurants and eateries, I looked forward with anticipation towards my return flight in Premium Economy. The first advantage of this was 5 kgs of extra luggage, which is boon if you love shopping or want to lug back a dozen Alphonsoes with you.
Additional leg space and seat recline gives you an option to both work of relax comfortably while Onboard Air Vistara Premium Economy
The check in again was quick and efficient and I was soon settled in my very comfortable seat on the flight. The leg space as promised is definitely much more as compared to Economy, the seat recline is also greater making the in-flight experience enormously more comfortable and pleasant. I was offered a cold towel by a cheery air hostess, a much needed respite after the stickiness of the Mumbai weather. As the flight taxied I was presented a menu with 3 options to choose from2 vegetarian and 1 non vegetarian for my lunch
The Diverse Menu Offering in Premium Economy of Air Vistara
I opted for the vegetarian continental, the Oriental Vegetables with Fried Rice. Also accompanying it was a beautiful Chickpea Salad, a chilled rasmalai sort of pudding and a bread roll. A selection of cold drinks and juices is also available to go with your meal. And if that’s not enough you can further choose to end your meal with a Starbucks Coffee or Tea.
My Lunch Aboard Premium Economy on Air Vistara
The presentation of the food itself was far superior to the Economy class. The Vegetables with fried rice was delicious and full of flavor. The chick pea salad was refreshing and subtly spiced. My favorite however was the dessert, a chilled pudding with beautiful flavours of rasmalia and kheer. With a chilled glass of diet coke, I enjoyed this meal tremendously.
A Refreshing Salad
Oriental Vegetable with Fried rice was Delicious
Dessert was a scrumptious pudding with a chocolate cake base and Indian flavors that came together to form a winning combination
On landing my luggage arrived quickly as it was marked priority and soon I was out of the door to face the dreaded heat of Delhi.
As I headed back home I questioned myself if the upgrade to Premium Economy was worth it? Is it really enough Bang for the extra bucks spent?
My personally opinion would be, YES it is, especially if you flight duration is longer than 60 minutes. Air Vistara has created a perfect compromise between Business Class and Economy Classfor AirTravel. The seats, though not as large as the ones in Business Class, are far greater in comfort than those in the Economy Class.

For me the deciding factor was the food. (Actually it is the deciding factors for a lot of stuff in my life!😁😍) Additional choices in term of not only dishes but also cuisines, delicious flavors and beautiful presentation all come together to create a delightful meal.
Both these elements go a long way to make your journey far more comfortable and enjoyable. Add to this the benefits of Priority check-in and boarding and you have an almost perfect flight. (Obliviously nothing is as perfect as travelling Business Class).
I would definitely be travelling Premium Economy as opposed to Economy and I urge you to do the same as small luxuries are what make like more pleasurable. So what are you waiting for book you tickets here
